Specialized Compression Utility - Because of its speed and very high reliability, SafeLog is especially well suited for the transfer of gigabyte-sized log files. In addition, SafeLog incorporates a specialized compression utility designed specifically for web log files, called LogZip. For typical log files generated by web servers, LogZip compresses 25-50% more than gzip. In other words, if a typical web log file of 1GB is compressed into 100MB by gzip, LogZip will compress the same file into 50MB to 75MB. Therefore, gigabyte-sized files that take many hours to transfer as gzipped files, can be sent in 25% to 50% less time as LogZipped files, using less bandwidth, and stored in 25% to 50% less disk space than gzipped files.
