Latest version of SafeCapacity brings simplified information life-cycle data movement to NAS servers

 

SANTA CLARA, Calif., August 19, 2004 — SolutionSoft Systems Inc, a leading provider of Intelligent Data Optimization solutions (IDO) today announces the introduction of SafeCapacity-NAS™, an automated, data life cycle and storage-capacity management solution specifically designed for NAS based storage. Built upon the success created by Solution-Soft’s SafeCapacity™ for Windows and Unix operating systems, SafeCapacity-NAS addresses the increasing need for advanced NAS management tools in corporate data centers by providing; easy-to-administer storage optimization, intelligent data life-cycle management and capacity overflow protection.

SafeCapacity provides a real-time approach to data optimization, capacity protection, and life cycle management using policies built from defined business rules. This policy-based approach to system management provides I.T. organizations with an effective tool to proactively monitor and manage their environment using fewer resources.

With the release of SafeCapacity-NAS, I.T. departments can now run a common application to manage all their storage platforms. This release also provides the same SRM functionality of the open system versions of SafeCapacity providing clear, file-level reports on storage utilization. The graphical reports provided by SafeCapacity-NAS allow users to easily identify and remedy problematic storage issues and proactively fix them with SafeCapacity’s data migration. Using a single interface, users can identify and correct improperly allocated storage by relocating files to the proper storage medium to achieve optimum performance and comply with company policy. Using SafeCapacity to ensure that all storage is efficiently allocated will provide more than twenty percent cost savings by reducing over-allocation and improper use of prime disk space.

SafeCapacity-NAS for CIFS file access is available for Windows 2000 and Windows 2003.

The SafeCapacity-NAS control station for NFS file access is available on Sun Microsystems Solaris 2.8 and 2.9, Red Hat Linux and supports all major NAS platforms.
